The Shaolin Five Ancestors Fist style (Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan) provides the basis for learning Pushing Hands at KIXX Martial Arts Club.
These classes focus on the essential requirements of balance and posture by utilising a series of exercises and partner practice drills to improve both.
Partner practice under guidance, will increases sensitivity and intuition in order to understand and apply the principal of little effort to overcome strength (To quote Master Lam (Malaysia), “No Physical Force”).
This class promotes ‘thinking‘ with ‘feeling‘ and covers the subject martially. It is a deceptively relaxing, calming and very personally rewarding experience.
Possible self-defence applications for Pushing Hands may be found in a 'clinch' situation where balance, direction of force and intent are at close quarters.
