The August High Grades Xtra Training
The Session on Sunday 3rd August was an ideal mixture of adult and junior students who worked well together especially with the partner sparring sets. It was encouraging to be able to focus on the Lohan forms and the Sai vs Long stick set sparring routine. Following a vigorous warm with a strong emphasis on basics, we focussed on hand forms. The second part of the course (weapons) required some work on sai and long stick basics to ensure that health and safety was enforced. The students quickly began to appreciated the principles involved with 'long weapon' verses 'short weapon' sparring tactics. Overall, an excellent session which we look forward to continuing on Sunday 7th September from 9:45am to 12noon. An ideal opportunity to rehearse for the grading on the 13th September! We will send out invitations in good time...
Overseas Lohan and us at KIXX...
When Great-Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong (GGM Xu Jin Dong) made our Grandmaster Han Kim Sen (GM Han Jin Yuan) his disciple, he awarded him the title of 'Overseas Lohan' (aka Bodhidruma) to represent his Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan-CKT system abroad both in the UK and Europe. GM Han diligently and passionately did what he was asked to do by his master until his passing in 2023. He managed to set up a UK – EUR organisation and memorialize GGM Chee in a series of books called The Fundamentals of Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan. We, his students, have been tasked by Grandmaster Han to continue this work together...
Reference. The Overseas Lohan is one of the 18 Lohan of Shaolin. These are displayed in the Shizu Chee Kim Thong clubhouse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and in the Shaolin Temples in China. We have been very fortunate to see the statues in the Nan Shaolin Temple in Quanzhou, Fujian province on a number of occasions. We at KIXX Martial Arts Club are pleased and proud to be handed the 18 Lohan statues with an additional, larger, Overseas Lohan by Mrs S. Han (Grandmaster Han's wife).
