It was a good turn out for this Xtra Training session on the 7th September. We moved forward with elements of the grading syllabus and weapon sparring set. Everyone was able to focus on the requirements for their level and we 'raised the bar' with the Sai vs Longstick sparring set. Well done all of you..!

The junior course and grading took place on Saturday the 13th September with 14 children taking part in the grading !!

The course took place in the upper hall and was directed by Sifu Tracy with Ray, Trevor, Megan, Socrates and Melina helping to supervise. Everyone took part in the course and practiced their grading syllabus along with padwork, martial exercises and some self defence. Sifu Nigel assessed the students in grade order in the downstairs hall with parents invited to watch, quietly :-). Once all of the gradings downstairs was concluded, we continued in the upstairs hall with the sparring. At this age and level, we are more interested in movement than the contact so all were very safe.

We were pleased with the positive feedback from parents who were all very encouraged by the course content and enjoyed witnessing the wide range of activities and skills their children were developing in the classes at KIXX Martial Arts Club and, the North Borough School – KIXX After School Club on Tuesdays...

As part of the Martial Weekend series, the next Open Mat Sparring Session will be on Saturday the 4th October from 12:30 to 4pm. This session will be free of charge to those people that would like to participate in both days.

Sun 5th Oct = Exploring Sanzhan, etc (Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan – Shizu Han Jin Yuan)

We would like to explore the width and depth of Sanzhan further using more 'hands-on' and technical practice, more partners and more of the other instructors from the UK/EUR group presenting their thoughts and interpretations. We will not focus exclusively on Sanzhan but the emphasis, for a better understanding, will be placed on the physical practice of the theory and techniques in which the formerly, formidable Wuzuquan system has its martial roots and benefits.

Please note that the free sparring takes place on the Saturday session.

For those that would like to come and train Kung Fu, this class is on Thursdays from 5pm to 6pm (+8 yrs)...

CALENDAR – Dates to Remember...

Saturday 4th OCT – 12:30 to 4pm – The Martial Weekend begins with 'Fight Club' open mat sparring.

Sunday 5th OCT – 9am to 3pm – Martial Weekend continues with the Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan Exploring Sanzhan Course.

Sunday 2nd NOV – 9:45am to 12noon – High Grades Xtra Training. Invitations will now be forwarded to the high grades...

Sunday 9th NOV – Remembrance Day Parade through Maidstone Town Centre. It would be great to have members of our club join us in the march. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Friday 14th – Monday 17th NOV – Eight members of KIXX Martial Arts Club will be joining the Team representing Shizu Han JIn Yuan, Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan – Chee Kim Thong UK/EUR at the International Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
