KIXX Team – Wuzuquan in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Team from KIXX Martial Arts Club that went to join with other members of the wider school namely Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan – Chee Kim Thong – UK/EUR [Han Jin Yuan] included the following... Nigel Gilham, Tracy Gilham, Ian Gauron, David Bailey, Andrew Cole, John Gomersall, Jonathan King (from Taiwan) and Paul Buckley (from Bangkok).

With so many experiences, photos, videos and performances, what follows a very brief outline of the trip for the KIXX Newsletter.
We arrived early in the morning of the 13th November after a very difficult flight from London to Kuala Lumpur. We were promptly met by one of the Malaysian Clubhouse seniors, Kuang. Two of our team mates arrived later that day.

All of us assembled in the hotel reception on the 14th November to complete our registration for the event. We had a little free time to look around before the Welcome Dinner, speeches and Demonstrations began. During the evening, Nigel, Tracy and Richard attended an event meeting to obtain more information about the programme.

On Saturday 15th November all participants went on a trip to the historic town of Malacca. This was a useful opportunity to get to know many of the other delegates from many of the other countries present. Though, it was quite a long journey on the coaches...

Sunday the 16th was the most important day of our trip. This was the meeting and signing ceremony that acknowledged the school that Master Han Jin Yuan wanted Richard and Nigel to manage going forward. They were both awarded Senior Chief Instructor certificates for the school of Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan – Han Jin Yuan – UK/EUR under the newly formed Chee Kim Thong International. Richard and Nigel will also work with their Chief Instructors, Bob Bannon (IRE), Peter Svensson (DEN) and Kjell Knutsson (SWE). Senior Instructors, Tracy Gilham (UK), Andrew Hopkins (UK), Jill Doyle (UK), Finbar Benjamin (USA), Ian Gauron (UK), Mark Bond (UK), Peter Dillon (IRE) and Martin Nsubuga (NOR). Instructors, Steven Mallion (UK), Pamela Appleby (UK), Jonathan King (UK), Simon Bannon (IRE), Gunjan Kumar (IRE), Paul Drum (IRE), Barry Dickson (IRE) and Stephen McArdle (IRE).

Following the meeting, everyone was taken to the Chee Kim Thong Pugilistic and Health Society Clubhouse for a buffet meal, lion dances, firecrackers and photo sessions. The weather was very hot so the organisers provide some welcome shade with gazebos.

We had a couple of hours after the clubhouse buffet to get ready for the evening closing ceremony and charity dinner. We took the opportunity to practice for our performances alongside Richard and his team as the UK contingent. The displays were carried out in alphabetical order so our group were going to be nearer the end of the evening. When our time came, we all joined together as one team and put forward an encouraging display to rousing music. Well done everyone!!

On the 17th November various groups were checking out and going home. It was really nice to see them off and promise to meet again.
Our training continued on the 18th with a visit to the, now very quiet, clubhouse to meet up with Richard, Bob and teams. The trip demanded tea at the local coffee shop frequented by Master Chee, Master Han and countless students over many years. We spent most of the day there training and comparing notes...

We went back to the clubhouse on the 19th to meet Mr Alan Soo (Chairman) and Mr Erlland Kok (Technical Director) of Chee Kim Thong International (CKTi). We spent some time in discussion about the future of CKTi and taking many publicity photos before being treated to a meal by them.

We took a day out on the 20th to visit some of the famous sights in Kuala Lumpur. Using public transport and GRAB we managed to see Batu Caves before going for a walk around the city centre to see KL Tower, Chinatown, Petronas Towers, Merdeka Square, etc. In the evening, we returned to the clubhouse to meet both Alan and Erlland to train with them. We did not leave there until after 10pm at which time, we were all very hot and tired.

On the 21st we made a trip to Mid-Valley shopping centre to purchase some Feng Shui items for our own clubhouse. Several other team members followed in order to get some gifts and souvenirs to take home the following day.

Saturday the 22nd November was our last day but with a late night flight, it made sense to extend the rooms to late check out. With last minute shopping, packing and organising transport to the airport, the passed very quickly.
We arrived in the UK on the early morning of the 23rd to be greeted by the intense cold. After enjoying the warm weather in Kuala Lumpur it really was a shock to all of us!!
